I have always been a documentarian. I love taking photographs, shooting and editing video and journaling adventures in life. That’s why blogging seems like a no-brainer to me. It’s a great outlet for me to capture my life adventures and share them with others, hopefully having a positive impact somehow along the way. When I began my journey to become a pilot, I knew I wanted to capture video of each of my flight lessons. Initially, I wanted the video to review my lessons and reinforce my training. Even prior to starting my training, I was watching the flights of others during their training on Youtube. I knew that I could share my experiences there as well. It wasn’t long before I realized there was other information that I would like to share in addition to my videos. That’s when I decided to start the blog at PilotTodd.com.
My target audience with this blog was initially fellow student pilots. I was sharing my experience of becoming a pilot to let others know that it is possible for them as well. One of the scariest parts of a new undertaking is the unknown. I felt if I could show what my experience was like, it would make the fear of starting less intimidating for others. Since earning my pilot certificate, the goal of the blog has shifted to showing others how much fun it is to be a pilot by highlighting the adventures I go on and hopefully inspiring others to do the same. It is my hope that in some small way, this blog will help keep the excitement of general aviation alive and well.
Since starting the blog over two years ago, I have continued to study marketing, business and social media – all passions of mine. I consume blogs and podcasts on these topics on a regular basis. Much of that space seems to highlight ways to create freedom with lifestyle businesses, which has always been in the back of my mind. With that in mind, I’ve decided to join the 30 day blog challenge being hosted by The Suitcase Entrepreneur. It is my hope that this challenge will make me a better blogger, this blog a more enjoyable place to visit and assist me in creating products and services that will be useful to my readers.
Thanks for following along on this journey. Cleared for takeoff!
